Mukhabhyanga or Face massage, is a combination of: Mukha = Face and Abhyanga = Oil application.
Face is one of the main part of the body which reflects the physical, mental as well as emotional health. So we end up having a lot of care on the face. All healthy people are suitable to receive Mukhabhyanga.
Mukhabhyanga helps to reduce wrinkles, dryness, dark pigmentations, acne, sagging of the facial muscles, overstretched pores, stiff jaw, head ache, weak nerves like in cases of paralysis, etc.
In the Ayurvedic tradition, massage is considered just as essential to health. Babies receive daily massage for the whole childhood which is very helpful for the whole physical and mental growth. Massage is also given to both bride and groom before their wedding. Women and their newborns are also given daily massage for forty five days after delivery.
This massage is similar to other types of massages, except in the direction of massage. Here medicated powder is rubbed all over the body from bottom to top. That is moving from the legs to the neck. The powder is massaged in a circular manner starting from the foot.
TIME AND DURATION:
It takes 60 – 90 minutes for completing the massage with 2 masseurs working on either side at the same time and is done for 7 – 14 – or 21 days course.
Oil application, both internally as well as externally is very important during pregnancy.
The pregnancy massage can be done from the third month onwards till the delivery. From the third to sixth month, massage can be received at least once in two weeks or once a week followed by self oil application on the other days. From the 7th month onwards the massage can be done 2 or 3 days a week. All the other days self oil application is necessary. The massage is usually done for 30-40 minutes. Another unique feature of the traditional pregnancy massage is that it is performed in the standing position. This helps to improve the strength of the body to undergo strenuous work. You can also receive the massage on a sleeping position if more confortable to you.
The body wrap is prepared acocording to the Doshas, where especific ingredients are mixed to form the herbal past. Banana Leaves or plastic is used to cover the body for 20 to 30min.
Herbal Bath cleanses the surface of our body and is considered to be a sacred ritual. You should receive a warm herbal bath after your elected massage or procedure.
The skin is an organ of excretion and needs to be cleaned regularly to keep fresh and healthy.

Shirodhara Is the procedure of pouring especific liquid over the forehead continuously for a specific period of time.
When the Shiro dhara is done with medicated oil, it is called Thaila Dhara and when done with milk it is called Ksheera Dhara.
This procedure can take 60 to 90 minutes and should be done for a period of 7 – 14 days depending upon the nature of the inbalance and the physical and mental condition of the patient. This therapy have better results if administered in the morning or evening.
This is one of the excellent therapies for the treatment of several inbalances connected with head, neck, eyes, ears, nose, throat and nervous system like nerve disorders, facial palsy, paralysis and ptosis of the eye. Its therapeutic utility for giving cure to patients suffering from long standing insomnia and schyzophrenia is well known. It prevents falling, graying and cracking of hair and headache. It is very nourishing and rejuvenating for the body. It stimulates the nerves giving sturdiness to the body, improves digestion, good for the sense organs, improves the voice, gives strength for neck and head, improves skin texture gives a cooling effect to the body and relieves pain. It maintains the equilibrium of the body and mind and inproves the memory and retaining power. It nourishes the semen and blood giving more strength and love in conjugal union. The dryness of the body will be alleviated and it also helps to increase the lifespan.
Nasya is a method by which either medicated oil or powder is introduced into the nose. It is mainly used in the diseases of the shoulders, neck and head. It is also called ‘Shiro virechana’ because it eliminates the vitiated doshas present in the head:

A Person suffering from diseases of the upper parts of the body, which means diseases of the shoulder, neck and head can benefit from Nasya. It is very effective in diseases like headache, sinus congestions, difficulty in movements of head and hand (which is seen in the case of cervical spondylosis), diseases of eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, throat, hair, scalp, shoulder, etc. Swellings, enlargement of glands, goiter, tumors, skin diseases, epilepsy, loss of voice, dryness of nose and mouth, difficulty in speaking, ptosis (drooping of the eyelids) or difficulty in opening the eyes, facial paralysis, paralysis, darkish pigmentation on the face, loss of hair, neck rigidity and lockjaw.
Apart from these, all healthy people also can do Nasya to preserve the health of the whole head.
Nasya is an important treatment for maintaining the health of the head. With this treatment the herbal medicine is administered into the nasal cavity and the toxins accumulated in the head can be expelled by spitting through the mouth. If the toxins are accumulated in your body the Dosha is disturbed. All the external treatments will have only a temporary effect if the toxins are not thrown out.
Nasya in small dose can be done from birth to death and helps to preserve the health of the whole head.
Depending on the severity, Nasya can be done twice a day, in 7 consecutive days.
Tarpanam is the process of keeping medicated unctuous substances in the eyes for a certain period of time. Akshi stands for eyes and Tarpanam means filling.
The person should lie down comfortably and with the help of dough a small wall is constructed around the eyes, which is one inch in height. This is stuck firmly below the lower eyelids in order to provide a ring starting from the nose upto the midpoint of the eyebrow. The therapy is done for 5-20 minutes, during 7 consecutive days.
This therapy can be done for both patients as well as healthy people. For the healthy person, it is very good to increasing the eyesight.
It is used in cases of eye disease like Ptosis, Night blindness, Cataract, Blurring of vision, stiffness and roughness of eyes, Glaucoma, pain in the eye, decreased secretion of lachrymal fluid and other eye diseases caused by aggravated Vata and Vata Pitha Dosha. It is also nourishing for the tired, dry, rough and weak eyes and improves the power of the eyes to see brightly, clear and light.
Sweda karma or Swedana is defined as a process by which Sweda (sweat) is induced or the toxins are liquefied in the body.
Sweda is the excreta of the body and it is the mala (waste product) of the Medo (fat) Dhatu.
A person suffering from dyspnoea, cough, running nose, indigestion, feeling of heaviness, tumor, hiccup, paralysis, constipation, hoarseness of voice, stiffness, body pain, catching pain of the waist, back, abdomen and lower jaw, contractions of toes and fingers, tetanus, arthritis, sprain, dysuria or painful urination, obstruction to the flow of semen and urine, rigidity of the thighs and other diseases of Vata and Kapha origin should undergo Sudation using the appropriate medicine.
